Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Clifton Park, NY

Learn More About Caring for Your Smile

Do you find that you have a lot of questions about dentistry? You’re not alone! Every day, patients ask us about our procedures and how they can take better care of their teeth. We always take the time to answer questions over the phone or during your appointment, but to try and save our patients some time, we’ve also listed the answers to some of the questions that we’ve heard most frequently on this page.

How Often Should I Visit the Dentist?

You should make an appointment for a dental checkup and cleaning at least once every six months. If you already have gum disease, you might need to schedule more frequent visits so that we can make sure that your condition stays manageable.

Can I Ignore a Missing Tooth?

You can, but it’s never a good idea. Missing teeth can negatively affect your ability to chew and eat food, cause your remaining teeth to drift and cause alignment issues, and even lead to bone loss in the jaw. We can recommend different options for replacing teeth (like dentures and dental implants) depending on your needs.

How Can I Improve My Smile?

We can brighten teeth with professional-grade whitening kits, correct minor imperfections in less than an hour with direct bonding, and straighten your teeth with metal-free aligners. Schedule a cosmetic consultation with us so that we can help you explore your options in more depth.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Crown?

Normally, getting a crown takes at least two visits since the impressions have to be sent to a dental lab. However, we have an in-office CEREC machine that lets us scan your tooth and create a lifelike customized crown in just one appointment, so you can have your tooth restored in less than an hour in many cases!

What Should I Do If I Have a Dental Emergency?

Call our dental office immediately! We have same-day emergency appointment times, and we can meet with patients after hours to deal with any urgent dental problems. We’ll figure out the best way to treat the source of the problem while also addressing your pain.

Do You Take My Dental Insurance?

Yes! We accept many different insurance plans, and we encourage you to call with your plan information to see what’s covered. We currently participate with Delta Dental Premiere, Guardian, United Healthcare, Ameritas, Cigna, and BlueCross BlueShield.
